Texas Cajun Cafe
About This Spot
Nestled just off Interstate 20 in Big Spring, Texas Cajun Cafe unfolds a quietly welcoming presence, the sort of spot that feels like a heartfelt discovery rather than a planned destination. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a comfortable pace and an unpretentious charm that invites you to settle in and breathe easy. It’s a casual, down-to-earth place where local hospitality shapes the rhythm of the room, and where people don’t just come to eat—they come to share a genuine meal and moment of connection.
Here, the atmosphere hums with a blend of casual small-town warmth and the rich traditions of Cajun and Texas steakhouse flavors. It’s a spot where the clink of cutlery and low conversation sit comfortably beside the occasional laughter or the soft murmur of friendly conversation. Whether you’re rolling in after a day on the road or pausing for a long leisurely meal, the space feels like a brief return to something familiar and satisfying.
The menu itself reads like an invitation to savor the best of hearty Cajun soul food and classic Texas steaks without pretense. Plates arrive with a tangible sense of care—steaks grilled to just the right level of tenderness, seafood that carries a hint of Gulf Coast flavor, and sides made for sharing that round out the experience. The charm is found in the balance: savory ribeyes and grilled shrimp alongside comfort dishes like chicken fried steak or gumbo that warm and satisfy in equal measure.
Staff here carry a sincere attentiveness that never feels forced, making even those late-afternoon visits feel like catching up with an old friend. Their quiet attentiveness and the unhurried flow of service add to the overall ease, allowing guests to relax fully into the moment. It’s the kind of place that sticks with you—not for loud theatrics or flash, but because it holds a space for steady, honest hospitality and good food.
For those passing through or making a point to stay a while, Texas Cajun Cafe offers more than just a meal; it offers a little pause on the map where flavorful stories unfold on each plate and warmth is served up with every visit.

1500 miles into our Texas road trip we happened across this unassuming road side eatery. - New York strip & Baked Potato - Ribeye and Shrimp Easily the best steak we have had so far in West Texas, better than a couple of steak chains. Service was excellent and the staff charming and attentive. 5 stars from the British travellers x

Soo... I'm just another trucker passing through, and got lucky in my choice for a place to eat.. OMG the ribeye steak was soooo good and those veggies had me going in!! Definitely coming back here and I highly recommend it!!

What a pleasant surprise this place was to visit. While this quaint unassuming restaurant has fantastic seafood offerings, there are some things that don't come to par in regards to quality. The crinkle cut fries we very sub-par for claiming to be a Cajun style cafe. While chicken fried cob corn sounds good in theory, the final product leaves much to be desired. The corn itself was very bland and seemed to lack sufficient moisture. The texture was not very pleasant. The stars of the show were definitely the cornmeal jumbo fried shrimp and the delicious tartar sauce. The shrimp were butterflied and fried to a golden brown crisp. They were considerably fresh and were well seasoned. The tartar sauce was tangy and tartar and complimented the shrimp perfectly. The service was reasonable, nothing too extraordinary, and the atmosphere, while quaint, did not inspire feelings of being in a Cajun style eatery. It felt more like a barnstyle country type restaurant. Pricing was reasonable based on the local market. Overall, I give this place a strong 4 ⭐rating.

Well worth maneuvering through the road construction. Dress is very casual…. Small town cafe atmosphere. Even though we were coming in close to closing, the staff was very welcoming. Our server, CiCi was right on time, kept our drinks filled and brought our food hot and just as we ordered. We had Ribeye steaks med rare.. perfect …baked potatoes loaded, and shared a 12 piece fried shrimp…. Large shrimp, very tasty and salads were fresh.. Will definitely be back and request CiCi as our server!

Not bad for a hidden gem. We ordered the rib eye & shrimp with baked potato, grilled veggies and house salad. We will return upon our next trip. Excellent rib eye, hats off to the chef!
